I hope that these pictures can inspire people the same way Kelsey inspires me to not settle but to chase your dreams and still bring the things you are passionate about into your work. My views of photojournalism were of war journalists and how impactful their work was and I felt like my work was insignificant but I realised that I could find something meaningful in my life that I wanted to share with the world. I wanted to take Kelsey’s philosophy of always pursuing what you care about and decided how important it was for me to share that in this project.

Kelsey is a beekeeper and during the pandemic he has placed new hives all around the east bay. After years of working with bees he is not afraid to lift up a panel covered in bees, even without his gloves

Kelsey uses a bee smoker to calm down the bees so he can open up the hive without getting stung. He also wears a beekeeping hood to keep the bees from flying into his face.
